I was in EB yesterday, and apparently they're going to be open at 12:01 for the launch.  It sounds like they will, in fact, have copies that aren't reserved for preorders.

I can't imagine lining up to buy a game.  Evil Genius was the first game I've bought in the first month since Advance Wars 2.

The EB out by me will be open at 12:01 as well. I don't think I'm gonna be that nerdy to get it then. I was stupid enough to pre-order the game. Not just that, but I pre-ordered the collectors tin.

My gamertag is SqueakyFoo for those playing on live.

I will not be buying Halo 2. Hell, I won't even be torrenting it when it comes out on PC... Nor Half Life 2 for that matter. I'd rather download midget pr0n.

Apparently, it's all the rage right now to link to really crap sites, so I figure when in Rome...

I wouldn't count on it hitting the PC.  From what I gather the PC port was something Microsoft was obliged to do as part of the Bungie buyout.  I kind of doubt Halo 2 will be grandfathered in, and I can't think of any other Microsoft published X-Box titles that hit the PC.

Cue ten people listing other examples.

I do not have an xbox, and therefore Halo 2 does not exist to me.

Ditto for me.  However, I did just buy a FPS for the Gamecube (Time Splitters 2), on the hunch that it won't make me sick if I'm sitting farther from the screen.  We shall see.  It was about $10 after all the discounts, and I paid with GBA games I'm never going to play again.

Also picked up Harvest Moon, but I'm not going to start playing that until I'm finished with Evil Genius.  EG is really pissing me off with all its little anoyances and bugs.  I couldn't torture the Russian at first, because the device was in a corner.  Even though both its footprints were accessible.  Now, I'm trying to launch the rocket and I keep running out of minions in the chamber.  How am I supposed to get more minions in the rocket chamber when I can't tell any of the little fucks where to stand?  All that coupled with regular crashes and system reboots make it a tough game to love.

I also (finally) bought 5.1 speakers on Saturday.  Everything sounds so good now, even crappy music.  I kind of think the rear speakers are overkill, but I don't intend to ever buy another set of speakers again.

UAC! Fuck yeah!

What the fuck? Creationism isn't a scientific theory no matter how you look at it, so why are these people trying to pretend like it is?

This is why Bush was elected.

Deth-  You should watch the Penn & Teller episode about Creationism.  It's hilarious.  Intelligent design is bringing creationism back with a force.

Well shit, son, we're already in there changing the books, might as well get it all done at once!  After all, if it's not in print, it doesn't exist.

In many parts of the world, traditional values say that women's vagina's must be mutilated, the holes sewn up and only opened at the pleasure of the husband and his desire for the occasional masculine offspring.   Traditional values!

Ugh.  I took a course on gender roles in society that covered that subject.  In many cases, it's not sewn shut.  Some cultures don't have needles and thread available to them.  Thorn bushes, on the other hand...

Actually, Deth, I read that link on creationism, and I'm not sure anything wrong is going on there. It states that alternative theories could be taught, which, if anything, could open up more discussion and debate in the classroom. I don't see that as a bad thing.

Creationism is not an alternative theory. It's not even a theory. It's a provably false fairy tale.

Yot -

The science curriculum “should not be totally inclusive of just one scientific theory,” said Joni Burgin, superintendent of the district of 1,000 students in northwest Wisconsin.

Creationism isn't a scientific theory. Creationism belongs with all of the other myths about creation from other religions in a history or religious studies class, not a science class.

Come back at me on this, though. You'd be one of the people I'd want to talk about this with.

Science, by its definition is something antithetical religion. I see no reason that religion should be taught in science lessons. That's not to say that religion shouldn't be postured as an alternative discipline to science, but we have religious education classes for that very purpose. It's like trying to introduce the teaching of Spanish to English classes. Both are very popular, but should be recognised as seperate teaching subjects.

*Yes, I made myself try it and got hooked on it.  Much better than 3 and VC, and the whole 90's gangstah thing pretty much dissolves away after the first batch of missions, when you head out to the countryside.

Heh.  I just had an old memory triggered by this creationism discussion.  I was sitting in a lab for my Zoology course in college and we were going over a section on evolution.  The guy next to me stood up and yelled "Come on people, we didn't evolve from monkeys!"  Everyone ignored him and he sat back down, looking defeated.

It was pretty damn funny.
